Dr Nelson Gonzalez

Dr Nelson Gonzalez is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with over a decade of dedicated experience in women's health. He offers a comprehensive and personalised approach to care, tailored to each woman's unique needs and expectations.

Specialising in advanced gynaecological surgery, Dr Gonzalez focuses on the treatment of chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and abnormal menstrual bleeding. With extensive expertise in managing severe endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, and other benign pelvic pathologies, he ensures his patients receive the highest quality of care.

A graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School, Dr Gonzalez honed his skills working in tertiary-level hospitals, notably the Gold Coast University Hospital. He maintains active involvement in the public system, serving as a part-time staff specialist at the Gold Coast University and Robina Hospitals. Passionate about medical education, he enjoys mentoring junior medical staff and participating in ongoing GP training and education.

In private practice at Southside Ob-Gyn, Dr Gonzalez holds admission rights to Sunnybank Private Hospital, Greenslopes Private Hospital, Mater Mothers' Private Hospital, and Gold Coast Private Hospital. He also collaborates closely with the Jimboomba Medical Centre, providing specialised care to the local community.

Originally from South America, Dr. Gonzalez offers consultations in Spanish, ensuring effective communication and understanding for Spanish-speaking patients.

Dr Joseph Jabbour

Dr Joseph Jabbour is a specialist obstetrician, gynaecologist, and fertility specialist. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS) in 2004 from Flinders University in South Australia. In 2015, he was awarded RANZCOG Fellowship following specialist training at multiple Queensland hospitals. Dr Jabbour has completed two years of Advanced Laparoscopic Training in South Australia, which includes grade 4 endometriosis surgery, complex laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery, and pelvic organ prolapse surgery. He completed his Master of Reproductive Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2018.

Calm, friendly and approachable, Dr Jabbour is dedicated to providing the highest quality of healthcare to his patients, while maintaining an individualised, patient-led approach.

He is dedicated to providing you with the greatest chance of conception and a healthy pregnancy through holistic reproductive care.

Dr Jabbour has dedicated several years of training to perfect his gynaecological skills, including the diagnosis and treatment of menstrual disturbances, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, PCOS, pap smear abnormalities and contraception. He also operates a urodynamics clinic to investigate urinary incontinence.

He has undertaken advanced specialty training in gynaecological laparoscopy (key-hole) surgery and urogynaecology, and aims to perform minimally invasive surgeries where appropriate.

Dr Joseph Jabbour is a member of the AGES (Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery) Society, Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE) and Urogynaecological Society of Australasia (UGSA). He speaks fluent French and Arabic.

Dr Jennie Connell

Dr Jennie Connell is a gynaecologist and obstetrician with a mission to seek out the best individualised health outcomes for you. Dr Jenn can provide care for all life stages and sensitive care for anyone assigned female at birth (AFAB) or transmasculine.

She has a strong interest in pregnancy care, both vaginal birth and caesarean section, whatever your needs may be. If you are planning, or trying to achieve a pregnancy, Dr Jenn is available for preconception and fertility advice and councelling.

Dr Jill Hunady

Dr Jill is a Gynaecologist with a focus on patient-centred care, regarded for her kind, thoughtful, and thorough approach.

Jill obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology and master's in public health in the United States before completing her medical training in Australia. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). She also has Certification in Sexual and Reproductive Health from the Family Planning Alliance Australia.

Prior to medicine, Jill worked in Health Education and Health Promotion focusing on adolescent and women's health topics. Her education programs promoted the well-being of pregnant women, mothers and their children in Southern California and Mexico. This experience set the foundation for her future career in gynaecology.

Dr Jill has a special interest in the evaluation and management of cervical and vulval conditions. She is a member the Australian and New Zealand Vulvovaginal Society (ANZVS), and the International Society for the Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD). She obtained additional training and Certification as a Colposcopist with the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP).

Jill is also passionate about the evaluation and management of common gynaecological conditions such as Endometriosis and Perimenopause. She supports an individualised approach to achieving treatment goals.

Dr Jill is a Staff Specialist in the Gynecology Department at QEll Jubilee Hospital where she enjoys teaching future Gynaecologists. She operates privately at Sunnybank Private Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. Jill also sees private patients at Capalaba Medical Centre, where she conducts Colposcopy and Vulvoscopy procedures.

Dr Amita Roy

Dr Roy consults alongside the wonderful team at “Southside ob-gyn”, Holland Park and has admitting rights at Sunnybank Private Hospital. She also consults at Suite 22, Cleveland House.

After completing her medical training at RIMS, located in India, Dr Roy completed her specialist training in QLD, Australia. This training included completing Advanced Training Modules in hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and colposcopy.

As an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Roy has worked at many hospitals including tertiary, regional and rural hospitals. This has provided valuable insight and experience in managing Women’s health issues in different geographic locations. She believes in empowering Women and assisting them to make their choices in relation to their own health. Dr Roy works as Staff Specialist at Redland Hospital and is affiliated as Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.

Dr Roy is a passionate health professional and aims to deliver the best possible outcomes for her patients.  She is understanding and caring and makes sure all her patients are given the attention and time needed to make them feel comfortable. Dr Roy is sensitive to women’s needs, privacy and expectations.  She provides comprehensive and experienced care to Women of diverse cultural backgrounds, at all stages of their life starting with Teenage Pelvic Pain to Menopause and beyond.

Dr Roy lives in Redland with her 2 loving daughters. Dr Roy will always do what is best for you and guide you with an open and honest information. Dr Roy is fluent in 4 languages including English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

Alan’s expertise is built on a foundation of extensive training across major hospitals in both Queensland and New South Wales. He has completed the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RANZCOG) advanced training modules in colposcopy, hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery, and general obstetrics and gynaecology. He is a Fellow of RANZCOG, a clinical lecturer with the University of Queensland and James Cook University, and an active member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery society (AGES), and the Australasian Doctors' Association (AADA).

Originally from Hong Kong, Alan is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. He is deeply passionate about serving Brisbane's Chinese-speaking community, offering care that feels familiar, comfortable, and like home.

Dr Darren Po

Dr. Darren Po is a dedicated gynaecologist committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care for women. With a focus on precise diagnosis and tailored management, Dr. Po prioritizes minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, to ensure optimal outcomes with faster recovery times when surgery is required.

 

A graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School (MBBS), Dr. Po began his career at Lyell McEwin Hospital and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in South Australia. These formative years solidified his passion for women’s health, inspiring him to pursue advanced training in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2008, Dr. Po relocated to Queensland, where he completed his specialist training, rotating through major hospitals including Mater Mothers’ Hospital (South Brisbane), Gold Coast, Caboolture, and Redland Hospitals. This diverse experience equipped him to handle complex gynaecological procedures in both busy tertiary centers and resource-limited rural settings. In 2014, he earned his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), alongside colleagues Dr Joseph Jabbour and Dr Nelson Gonzales.

 

Dr Po continues to serve as a part-time O&G Staff Specialist at Redland Hospital, where he mentors the next generation of specialists. His expertise lies in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopy, as well as abnormal cervical screening and colposcopy, ensuring women receive cutting-edge care for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and abnormal bleeding.

 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Po cherishes time with his wife and young son, enjoys international travel, and takes pride in maintaining his home on Brisbane’s bayside. His commitment to both his patients and community reflects his holistic approach to women’s health, blending clinical excellence with genuine care.

Carly Barlow
Accredited Practising Dietitian B Sc Nutrition & Dietetics

Carly is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who takes a holistic approach to nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Carly offers a non-judgemental approach to weight and food concerns and encourages people to become inquisitive about how food impacts their health, energy and vitality.
Her specialties include weight management, IBS, PCOS, endometriosis, diabetes, fertility, pregnancy nutrition and bariatric surgery.

Carly currently works as a clinical dietitian in a hospital and has undertaken additional training in gut health, eating disorders, FODMAPS and behaviour change. She has previously worked as a Nutritionist at the Gwinganna Health Retreat and appears on Channel 9's "Living Proof" TV show as the expert dietitian.

She is a member of the Australian & New Zealand Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) and is Vice Convenor of the Dietitians Australia Bariatric Surgery Interest Group.

In her spare time Carly enjoys spending time with her two daughters, hiking, going to the gym and working on various entrepreneurial ventures.
